PSEA Critical ALERT: FBI Background Check Extension

Section 6387 of the Child Protective Services Law grants certain individuals who would otherwise be required to obtain an FBI background check recertification during the period of the COVID-19 disaster emergency an extension of time until December 31, 2020, to obtain recertification.

Act 13 signed by Governor Wolf on March 27, 2020 requires all employees of any public school entity to be paid as if the school closing/pandemic did not occur.  Prior to the passage of Act 13, some members were furloughed and may have applied for unemployment compensation benefits.

  • If you applied for unemployment compensation benefits after March 13th and have Not received a payment, do Not file your bi-weekly claim.  Your claim will expire in one year.
  • If you applied for unemployment compensation benefits after March 13th and you received a payment of benefits, please contact your UniServ representative for guidance.
  • You are not permitted to collect unemployment compensation and be paid by your district for the same time period.  Please contact your UniServ representative with questions.
