Local Association Presidents:
The Local Email Utility, available to you and your designees, is a useful tool for you to quickly email all your members without the need to create and maintain a separate database of member email addresses.
Your access carried over on September 1 (as long as you remained president). After September 1, your designees from the prior year were deleted and you need to log in to Local Leader Tools to set up your designee(s) for the current membership year.
If you have any questions about this tool, please contact PSEA-Financial Management at 800-944-7732.
PSEA has a Personal Legal Services Program for members and their families. The program provides discounted rates and two 30-minute consultation sessions free during each membership year (must be on two separate matters).
After the initial 30 minutes, attorney rates apply at a 30% discount. PSEA cannot guarantee that the discounted fee will be the lowest in the area, only that it is 30% lower than the fee normally charged by that attorney.
Please email Legal Assistant, Katie Lovrich at klovrich@psea.org for the list of participating attorneys in Western Region.
The online Western Region Directory has been revised and is in the "Region Information" block located at the top of this website (login required). This online Directory is revised throughout the school year as updates occur.
If you have updates, please let us know by emailing W-PittsburghAssociates@psea.org.

Act 153 of 2014 requires school employees to provide or renew State Police/FBI record checks and child abuse clearance statements. Additional changes to the law went into effect July 1, 2015. PSEA wants to ensure that all members understand how this policy affects them. Updated clearances are required every 60 months from the date of the oldest clearance. Please reach out to your HR department or visit this website for more information.
If you are retiring at the end of the school year or calendar year here are a few steps that you should be taking with your District and PSERS:
Request a retirement estimate from PSERS. You may ask for up to two different scenarios (ex: retirement date of June 2024 or December 2024.)
You can also sign up to be a PSEA-Retired member. The earlier you sign up, the more money you will save on dues. This is a great way to continue to stay involved and engaged with the work of the association as well as continued use of our member benefits. For more information and to enroll, visit this website.
Are you taking full advantage of your PSEA membership? Take a few moments to check out ways that your membership can save you money on a wide variety of services, programs, and goods that many of us use every day.
As a PSEA Member, you also qualify for NEA Member Benefits.
Did you know that you have $1,000 complimentary life insurance from NEA? All you need to do is name your beneficiary – there is zero cost involved. This, and other discounts on travel, appliances, and much more are available through NEA Member Benefits.
