HARRISBURG (June 20, 2018) – Dolores McCracken, president of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, today issued the following statement after the state House of Representatives passed a state budget plan that includes key investments in public schools.
“This is a solid budget that makes public education the priority it deserves to be. Making sure that Pennsylvania’s students have the resources they need to get the best possible education should always be a top priority.
“Gov. Tom Wolf and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have crafted a budget plan that makes key investments in basic education, special education, career and technical education, and school safety programs.
“On behalf of PSEA’s 181,000 members and the students we serve every day, I commend the members of the state House for approving this budget, and I look forward to seeing the Senate do the same so that the governor can sign it into law.”
McCracken is a paraprofessional in the Council Rock School District. An affiliate of the National Education Association, PSEA represents approximately 181,000 future, active and retired teachers and school employees, and health care workers in Pennsylvania.
