President Chapin calls for continued action on education equity funding

Pennsylvania is making real headway in tackling long-standing inequities in school funding. But reversing course now could undo the progress.

In an op‑ed published in newspapers across the state, PSEA President Aaron Chapin breaks down how last year’s bipartisan funding reforms are already transforming classrooms across the commonwealth. From hiring new teachers and expanding STEM offerings to bolstering mental-health services and launching full-day kindergarten, the momentum is undeniable.

As the General Assembly weighs the next budget, PSEA urges lawmakers to continue the investment, close the gaps, and build an equitable, constitutional public education system our members and our students deserve.

Judicial retentions: Why your vote matters

Don’t forget to fill out your ballots in the November General Election and vote YES to retain Supreme Court judges Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht.

These no‑opponent “yes/no” retention elections occur after a judge’s initial 10‑year term, and they shape crucial decisions on everything from education funding to redistricting.

Visit PSEA’s Action Center to find out why you should vote to retain these three judges, and to see a clear guide on the process and timeline to help you stay informed

Your vote keeps experienced, fair-minded judges on the bench.

PSEA supports diversity, equity, and inclusion all year ’round

In the midst of Pride Month and having just celebrated Juneteenth this past week, we want to take a moment to say that at PSEA, diversity, equity, and inclusion aren't just boxes to check. They're at the core of everything we do, and are central to our mission, vision, values, and goals.

From advocating for fair school funding to promotiong culturally responsive teaching, to fighting discrimination wherever it rears its head, PSEA stands with educators and students from every background.

Through ongoing training, partnerships, and policy work, we're building schools where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed.

PSEA: 173 years strong, and just getting started

Did you know PSEA has been advocating for public education in Pennsylvania for 173 years? That’s right, more than a century and a half of educators and support professionals fighting for students, schools, and each other.

The world has changed a lot since 1852. But what hasn’t changed is the passion of educators like you. Every day, in schools across the commonwealth, you carry forward a legacy built by generations who believed in the power of public education and union solidarity.

At a time when some would rather erase or distort the history of unions, we decided to celebrate ours.

Click the thumbnail above to watch a video we put together to connect our past, present, and future.

PSEA’s history is your history. And we’re proud you’re part of it.
