PA Basic Education Funding Commission continues its fact-finding tourAs it works to address education funding disparities, the Pennsylvania Basic Education Funding Commission convened for its fifth meeting last Thursday, this time in Hanover. The commission is halfway through its 10-meeting, statewide tour aimed at rectifying the longstanding issue of unequal education funding following a Commonwealth Court ruling that declared Pennsylvania's school funding system unconstitutional. During the session held on Thursday, testifiers discussed the allocation of funds for critical infrastructure improvements that will make our schools safer, more comfortable places to work and learn. The goal of the commission’s fact-finding tour is to develop and propose a new funding formula that will promote fairness and equity among all of Pennsylvania's school districts. |
