PSEA vice president pays tribute to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka

HARRISBURG, PA (August 5, 2021) – PSEA Vice President Aaron Chapin issued the following statement on the passing of long-time AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, who was a Pennsylvania native and received degrees from Penn State and Villanova Law School.

“Richard Trumka was a giant in the labor movement and a true inspiration for anyone who believed that the lives and livelihoods of ordinary Americans could be made better by the strength of collective action.

“Working people everywhere are saddened by his passing. But we are grateful that Richard Trumka dedicated his life to improving the lives of countless others.

“He will be missed, but his life’s work will never be forgotten.”

Chapin is a Stroudsburg Area social studies and reading teacher and the vice president of PSEA. An affiliate of the National Education Association, PSEA represents about 178,000 active and retired educators and school employees, student teachers, higher education staff, and health care workers in Pennsylvania.
