PSEA, a labor organization representing 178,000 members working in Pennsylvania’s schools and educational institutions, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accounting Analyst (Accounting Coordinator) to join our Financial Management Division in Harrisburg.
This professional-level position is responsible for a wide range of financial and accounting operations, including oversight of general ledger activity, accounts payable, non-dues accounts receivable, payroll processing, strike loan administration, legal expense accounting, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will lead team operations, prepare detailed financial analyses and reconciliations, ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and serve as a key resource for both internal staff and local association treasurers.
Key responsibilities include accounts payable payments, managing vendor payments and ACH collections, reconciling general ledger accounts, coordinating strike loan applications and reporting, preparing IRS filings (e.g., 1099s, escheat reports), conducting training workshops for local officers, and acting as the liaison for the accounting system.
We are seeking a candidate with strong accounting acumen, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead and improve financial processes. Ideal applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field (master’s degree preferred) and at least three years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including supervision. Experience with enterprise accounting systems, including system configuration and migration, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with union operations or nonprofit accounting are strongly preferred.
PSEA offers diverse benefits to their employees. The starting salary for this position is $86,030.
