Legal Administrative Assistant

PSEA is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Administrative Assistant in our Wilkes-Barre, PA office. This in-person position mainly provides administrative support to the staff attorney and PSEA Legal Division. This position administers Legal Division programs and performs other assigned office functions.

Duties include drafting legal documents, coordinating the staff attorney’s calendar, handling all correspondence for the staff attorney, coordinating complex projects, preparing legal pleadings and briefs consistent with applicable procedural rules and assisting with litigation preparation at the direction of the staff attorney.

This position requires a highly organized individual with strong independent decision-making skills, who is committed to public education and union values. The ideal candidate must be able to handle confidential information with discretion and provide excellent client service. Candidates should excel in using various software applications and possess a high level of proficiency in complex English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Communications Manager

PSEA is seeking an experienced Communications Manager for our headquarters in Harrisburg, PA to implement the Association’s communications strategy and manage staff and resources. As a member of the Executive Director’s management team, this role helps advance PSEA’s mission, strengthen member engagement, and shape the organization’s public voice.

The Communications Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of media relations, digital communications, publications, branding, crisis communications, and content development while leading a collaborative communications team. Responsibilities include developing strategic messaging; managing media, digital, and social media strategies; creating speeches, statements, and publications; advising leadership on communications matters; supporting crisis communications; managing events and branding efforts; overseeing division operations and budget functions; and collaborating with staff, affiliates, and member leaders to ensure consistent messaging.

Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field (advanced degree preferred), along with 5–10 years of professional communications or media relations experience, including leadership experience. Experience in advocacy, nonprofit, membership, or labor organizations is preferred. Strong writing, presentation, organizational, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to travel statewide and maintain a valid driver’s license, are required.

Administrative Specialist – Health & Welfare Fund

PSEA is seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Specialist to join our Health & Welfare Fund team in Harrisburg. This position is responsible for administering the accounting functions of the Health & Welfare Fund, including premium billing and collections, claims processing, account reconciliations, financial reporting, cash management, budget preparation, investment reallocations, and audit support. The role works closely with school districts, third-party administrators, trustees, auditors, and insurance carriers to ensure the efficient operation and financial integrity of the Fund.

We are seeking a candidate with strong accounting, analytical, and organizational skills. Ideal applicants will possess an associate degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field (bachelor’s degree preferred) and at least three years of progressively responsible accounting, financial, or administrative support experience. Knowledge of trust fund administration, general ledger accounting, benefit plan operations, and applicable regulations such as ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA is preferred.

PSEA will be holding an information session on Monday, July 20th, during the Summer Leadership Conference at Gettysburg College.  The session begins at 5:00 p.m. and is expected to last approximately one hour.  RSVP preferred one week in advance.

These sessions will provide the opportunity to learn more about the nature and demands of this position and how PSEA’s UniServ Selection Process works. Intended for individuals considering a career as a UniServ Representative.
