Administrative Assistant (Executive Offices)

This confidential position will provide administrative support to our senior executive level leaders, including processing expenses, making travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, and communicating with staff and governance leaders. This position requires a detail-oriented problem solver who is committed to public education and union values. Candidates must have significant experience working in an office setting in an administrative role as well as experience using Microsoft 365. A successful candidate must also demonstrate effective verbal/written communication, organization, and people skills; and be able to handle multiple projects at one time.

Organizing/Communications Specialist (Region Advocacy Coordinator)

PSEA has a position for a field-based organizing/communications specialist located in Indiana, PA. We are seeking individuals with strong labor credentials, excellent organizing skills and experience, and superior communications skills/expertise. The individual in this position works with other labor relations specialists to motivate and engage school employees, other members, and the community around work-related issues of concern and support for public education. Experience working in a labor environment, a non-profit association, electoral or legislative campaigns or education is preferred.

Successful candidates must possess the ability to motivate and engage individuals, and demonstrate excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to work in a team setting, promote membership, develop plans to deal with campaigns and crises, and foster positive relationships with the news media.  Successful candidates will have a solid understanding of digital tools and databases and their application to organizing including but not limited to, peer-to-peer texting, online forms and event registration, virtual phone banking, data tracking and reporting using databases such as the VAN, and various social media platforms.

The position requires evening and occasional weekend work. The minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree. PSEA offers a comprehensive benefit package – including employer-paid medical insurance - with an excellent starting salary.

Attorney (Labor and Education)

PSEA is seeking a Staff Attorney for our Edinboro, PA office. This position will advise and represent PSEA’s local affiliates and members in employment-related matters, including grievance arbitrations, administrative proceedings before state agencies such as the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board and the Department of Education, and appeals to the state Commonwealth and Supreme Courts. Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience, admission to the Pennsylvania bar, familiarity with labor and/or education law, and some litigation experience. Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills are necessary.

PSEA will be holding an in-person UniServ Information Session on Friday, May 17, 2024 beginning at 3:30 PM. 

The Information Session will be held during the PSEA House of Delegates at Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown located at 600 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Their phone number is 412-391-4600. The session is expected to last approximately one hour. The room name will be posted when available.

This session will provide the opportunity to learn more about the nature and demands of this position and how PSEA’s UniServ Selection Process works. Intended for individuals considering a career as a UniServ Representative.
