Part-time Legal Administrative Assistant

PSEA is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented part-time (20 hours per week) Legal Administrative Assistant in our Harrisburg, PA office. This part-time, in-person position mainly provides administrative support to the staff attorneys and PSEA Legal Division. This position administers Legal Division programs and performs other assigned office functions.

This position requires a highly organized individual with strong independent decision-making skills, who is committed to public education and union values. The ideal candidate must be able to handle confidential information with discretion and provide excellent client service. Candidates should excel in using various software applications and possess a high level of proficiency in complex English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Duties include drafting legal documents, coordinating the staff attorneys’ calendars, tracking deadlines, scheduling hearings, coordinating complex projects, maintaining digital and paper case files, preparing legal pleadings and briefs and assisting with litigation preparation at the direction of staff attorneys.

The hourly rate for this position is $37.09. This position is eligible for prorated medical, dental, vision, pension, and other applicable benefits.

Attorney (Labor and Education)

PSEA is seeking a Staff Attorney for our Harrisburg, PA office. This position will serve on a team of attorneys who counsel the organization, its various departments, and its leaders regarding a wide range of legal issues impacting PSEA, its local affiliates, and its members. The Staff Attorney may also advise and represent PSEA and its local affiliates and members in grievance arbitrations, litigation in state and federal courts, and administrative proceedings before state and federal agencies such as the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, National Labor Relations Board, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Department of Education.

Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience, admission to the Pennsylvania bar, familiarity with labor and/or education law, and excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.  Some litigation experience is preferred.

Health and Welfare Fund Assistant

PSEA is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Health and Welfare Fund Assistant in our Harrisburg, PA office. This position provides administrative, financial, and customer service support for the Health and Welfare Fund's employer-paid and voluntary benefit programs, including vision, dental, life, and disability insurance. The Health and Welfare Fund Assistant maintains enrollment and financial records, processes benefit transactions, prepares premium invoices, and assists members, employers, and vendors with benefit-related inquiries.

This position is responsible for administering employee benefit programs, including processing enrollments, eligibility changes, terminations, COBRA, and PSEACare enrollments while maintaining accurate records and coordinating with third-party administrators. This role also manages premium billing, payment processing, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping, researches and resolves benefit and billing issues, and provides exceptional customer service to members, employers, and vendors.

The position requires a highly organized individual with strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will have experience with bookkeeping, benefit administration, or financial recordkeeping and possess strong computer skills.

PSEA offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage, a defined benefit pension and free parking.  The starting salary for this position is $77k.

PSEA will be holding an information session on Saturday October 17th, during the Collective Bargaining Conference in Hershey.  The session begins at 1:30 p.m. and is expected to last approximately one hour.  RSVP preferred one week in advance.

These sessions will provide the opportunity to learn more about the nature and demands of this position and how PSEA’s UniServ Selection Process works. Intended for individuals considering a career as a UniServ Representative.
