PSEA President congratulates PA Teacher of the Year Jennifer Wahl

HARRISBURG (Dec. 6, 2017) – Recently Pennsylvania Education Secretary Pedro A. Rivera announced Jennifer R. Wahl, a teacher at Loyalsock Township High School in Lycoming County, has been named the 2018 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year.

Dolores McCracken, president of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, today issued the following statement.

“PSEA congratulates Jennifer Wahl, along with the other 11 teachers named as Teacher of the Year finalists. Jennifer represents the best qualities of the many teachers in public schools throughout Pennsylvania, working to provide a quality education to all students.

“Jennifer and her many colleagues across the state work tirelessly with students to instill a love of learning and to empower students to shape a better future for our society.”

Wahl, who has worked at Loyalsock Township High School for 11 years, teaches world history and psychology. She is a member of the Loyalsock Township Education Association.

As Pennsylvania's Teacher of the Year, Wahl will meet and collaborate with other educators, and represent the commonwealth in next year's National Teacher of the Year competition.

McCracken is a paraprofessional in the Council Rock School District. An affiliate of the National Education Association, PSEA represents approximately 181,000 future, active and retired teachers and school employees, and health care workers in Pennsylvania.
