Likely PA voters favor governor’s school funding plan, oppose vouchers, and support federal investments in public schools, new poll finds

Likely Pennsylvania voters strongly support Gov. Josh Shapiro’s 2025-26 education budget proposal and oppose any effort to funnel tax dollars into private and religious school vouchers, according to a new poll conducted by Susquehanna Polling & Research for the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA).

  • By a 56:39 margin, Pennsylvania likely voters oppose giving taxpayer dollars to pay for tuition at private and religious schools.
  • By a 53:35 margin, Pennsylvania likely voters prefer a multiyear plan to increase public school funding to underfunded schools over school vouchers.
  • 69% of Pennsylvania likely voters say that the state Legislature should pass Gov. Josh Shapiro’s education budget proposal.
