PSEA praises Gov. Wolf’s plan to reduce the length of the PSSA

Gov. Tom Wolf and Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera announced this week that Pennsylvania will reduce the length of the PSSA by an average of 20 percent in grades three through eight.

Budget Update: Here's the latest from the state Capitol

On June 30, the General Assembly passed a state budget that includes public school spending priorities championed by PSEA members and Gov. Tom Wolf.

And on July 27, the state Senate approved a balanced revenue package and legislation impacting public education in Pennsylvania. 

However, the state House of Representatives has not yet acted on these final budget-related bills, and it is unclear when state representatives will return to finish this important work on the state budget.

PSEA Board fills vacancies on state officer team in wake of Oleksiak's Cabinet appointment

Following the news that President Jerry Oleksiak will leave PSEA on September 2 to join Gov. Tom Wolf's Cabinet as secretary of Labor and Industry, the PSEA Board of Directors has taken action to ensure a smooth transition in the three-member state officer team.
