The 2026 National Teacher of the Year Leon Smith

Leon Smith spent decades as the only Black teacher in his building. He could have left. Instead, he built an AP course, launched a new teacher pipeline, and changed a district’s culture from the inside. Now, he’s the second consecutive Pennsylvania teacher to be named National Teacher of the Year.
