Only a few days remain to apply for the U.S. Department of Education’s Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program limited waiver, which allows borrowers to receive credit for past periods of repayment that would otherwise not qualify for PSLF.

The opportunity ends on Oct. 31, 2022.

To check your eligibility and take advantage of this program, either visit https://studentaid.gov/announcements-events/pslf-limited-waiver and follow the steps to see if you qualify, OR text STUDENTDEBT to 48744.

The election is less than two weeks away!

This is going to be a close election and turnout is going to be high. Who wins will decide the future of public education - and whether many PSEA members will keep their jobs.

PSEA recommends Josh Shapiro for governor because he will:

• Increase school funding and address the school staff shortage,
• Protect our pensions,
• Fight for the collective bargaining rights that get us good pay and benefits, and
• Reduce standardized testing.

And we can’t support Doug Mastriano because he will:

• Cut school funding by more than $12 billion,
• Eliminate more than 118,000 jobs in public schools, and
• Support bills attacking collective bargaining rights.

For U.S. Senate, PSEA recommends John Fetterman, because he will make public education a top priority in Congress.

VOTE for pro-public education candidates on Nov. 8. Bring your family, bring your friends, and ask everyone you know to VOTE.

The lieutenant governor also believes elected leaders should take time to talk with educators and support professionals to better understand what is happening in public education. Oz, by contrast, refused to respond to a questionnaire or meet with PSEA members during the PACE recommendation process. On top of that, Oz has echoed false statements that Pennsylvania educators are indoctrinating students in our public schools with “woke ideology.”
