PSEA webinars on Special Education issues
PSEA will offer webinars on timely special education issues this spring.
Special Education IEP & Predetermination - This course will provide special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers with information on how to prevent predetermination accusations by parents and advocates when working with students with disabilities. The IEP process is complicated and the education staff take serious the procedural safeguards such as deadlines, form completion, and IEP team attendance. Predetermination is where the LEA is accused of leaving the parents out of the equation. The topic of predetermination will address strategies on how to approach generating IEP documents, dealing with challenging IEP team members, and how to strategically place information in the IEP that will help when faced with a due process hearing.
