Gov. Corbett calls for continued public review of state academic standards

Just a year after praising the passage of Pennsylvania Core Standards, the state's adaptation of national Common Core academic standards, Gov. Tom Corbett is calling for "continued public review" of English-language arts and math standards in elementary and secondary schools. Students in poorest school districts hit hardest by Corbett funding cuts

A new function on PSEA's school funding cuts calculator shows that the average per student funding cut in Pennsylvania's 50 poorest school districts is $532, while the average per student cut in the 50 wealthiest school districts is $113.  More »
