Student PSEA attends December 2022 House of Delegates

Student PSEA members proposed a new business item at the December 2022 House of Delegates to study how to pay student teachers. Delegates approved the new business item, making it a priority for PSEA.


NBI #6: PSEA will investigate the creation of an Aspiring Educator Student Teaching Stipend for those enrolled in a university educator preparation program. PSEA will collaborate with colleges and universities, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and state government officials to help procure funding for this initiative.

West Chester University's Student PSEA hosted the Southeastern Region Conference to hear from guest speakers in the education field, participate in a Q&A session, and attend professional development workshops.
 

University of Pittsburgh Johnstown's Student PSEA hosted a presentation on transitioning into the education field after college.

Save the date for Student PSEA's 2023 Conference and Convention

• Hear from inspiring educators in breakout sessions,
• Participate in a school service project at Swatara Middle School in the Central Dauphin School District,
• Make a change in your association and strengthen yourself as a future educator,
• Connect with peers from other chapters to learn, grow, and make a difference,

Upcoming statewide meetings and chapter events

January Virtual Monthly Membership Meeting - Jan. 22, 7 p.m.

Join us on Zoom for the January statewide Monthly Membership Meeting to learn about upcoming Student PSEA elections and awards, hear important updates, meet chapter advisors, and participate in a Q&A session. Registration is required. Register.
 
Teacher Leadership Institute - Feb. 25, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

University of Pittsburgh Greensburg invites you to the 2023 Teacher Leadership Institute. Available sessions include information on job searching, classroom management, trauma with children, using culturally responsive education, reflecting on teaching and race in education, and surviving burnout. Elizabeth Raff, Pennsylvania's 2022 Teacher of the Year, will give the keynote speech. Registration at the event starts at 9 a.m. A $10 registration fee provides continental breakfast, lunch, and swag.

NEA's Praxis content sessions and PSEA's Center for Professional Learning

From Jan. 23 to Feb. 8, NEA is offering daily Praxis content sessions to prepare you for upcoming exams. All sessions are virtual, and registration is required. Register.
