The pension crisis in (moving) pictures

The fight to protect our PSERS pension fund likely will continue through much of 2010. As other groups publicly announce silver bullet “solutions” to the coming rate spike in 2012-2013, it is critical that every PSEA member stay informed and engaged on this issue.

When moving forward, it’s important to understand where we’ve been. To help, PSEA has created an animation to help explain your PSERS pension fund and the current debate:

Using state of the art animation technology, “Keep the Promise” walks viewers through the past ten years. While PSEA members continued to contribute to your pension fund, school districts and the state deferred their payments into the future. They rode the wave of a booming economy, but with the bursting of the .com bubble and our current recession, their contributions continued to rise, and the bill has come due.

Watch the video – share it with your family and colleagues to help everyone understand how we got here, and most importantly – what we must do to Keep the Promise:

PSEA.org continues to post new research and information at www.psea.org/pensions. Stay informed, stay connected, and stay ready to make sure legislators Keep the Promise!
