Williamsport ESPs rally to battle subcontracting
On May 5, more than one hundred PSEA members from Williamsport, Lycoming County, and across Pennsylvania gathered for a solidarity rally in support of the Williamsport ESPA.
The WESPA continues to fight an attempt by their school board to subcontract their 40 bus drivers and aides. The association has been trying to secure a new contract since January 2008.
ESP Region President Dawn Bandle attended the rally, along with PSEA Treasurer Jerry Oleksiak, ESP Central Division President Pat Weaver, and former PSEA President Jim Weaver.
WESPA leaders gave school board members a booklet of information about each of the bus drivers and bus aides. They also included a DVD of PSEA members and the community talking about the negative effects of subcontracting.
