PSEA members show union pride at 2008 Labor Day Parade
It was unions’ day to shine in the Pittsburgh Labor Day parade on September 1. More than 100 PSEA members from the Midwestern, Southwestern, and Western regions marched in the annual parade, the second largest Labor Day parade in the country.
More than 60,000 onlookers viewed the parade. Several thousand members representing 150 unions marched in the event.
Governor Ed Rendell and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl led the parade.
Debbie Turici from the Western Region coordinated PSEA’s involvement in the parade. Organizers say the parade highlights the important role unions have played in the city and region for many generations.
