Wilkes-Barre Area teacher has novels published

Published September 2008 Voice

voicesept08_16_4Cecilia Galante, a high school English teacher at Elmer J. Myers High School in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, has taken her personal experiences and transformed them into two published novels for teenagers. Her first book was “The Patron Saint of Butterflies,” published by Bloomsbury, and her second book was “Hershey Herself,” published by Simon and Schuster. “The Patron Saint of Butterflies” was awarded the Sense Pick for 2008.

Galante has been teaching English for five years and writing since her teenage days. “I became a teacher because I love to teach and I love words, language, reading and writing. This is the passion that I want to pass on to my students,” said Galante. “I wanted to use some of my own personal experiences to create fictional stories that help teenagers ask questions about themselves and the world they live in.”

Galante has a contract with Simon and Schuster to write two more books. For more information on Cecilia Galante and her books, you can visit www.CeciliaGalante.com
